Whole lotta things going on

There are a whole lot of things going on here at Island Brewing Company and we’re going to make a vain attempt to distill all the awesomeness into words, so here we go.

First of all, it’s a race like no other race. We would be speaking of the race to finish our women’s room before the splendor, glory, and mayhem that is Carpinteria’s Avocado Festival, Oct 7, 8 , 9. Thanks to Ken Lundin construction, as of this writing, we’re on track to have all our bathrooms open by then. Keep your fingers crossed!

In the super duper stoked category, we are pleased beyond pleased to announce that in a few short weeks Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner will be carrying our 22 oz. Hopliner IPA bottles. This American IPA is powered by twin engines of El Dorado and Azacca hops and is certain to make the next time you’re on board the Surfliner, a very pleasant one. 6.0% abv and 50 IBUs.

And we may be getting a little ahead of ourselves here, as they won’t be showing up for another month or so, but here's a semi-sneak preview our new tap handles will be going up around the greater Santa Barbara, Ventura, Ojai, and beyond areas early/mid November. So start training your eyes to recognize this piece of utilitarian beauty soon.

And finally. Yes, finally. Cans. We know we’ve talked and planned for cans, and then a few extra irons went into the fire and a few more irons went on top of that. But as we emerge from our brewery expansion, we’re on track for getting on Tropical Lager and Hopliner in cans, well, we know now not to make any predictions, but by sooner than ever. A crack crew will head to Fairfield, CA this week where 150,000 cans will be printed up and shortly make their way back to the brewery. From there we open up the crate holding the canning machine and start the process of getting our beer into 12 oz. cans. Hallelujah.

Finally, you can always keep abreast of what is happening now, like right now, over on our the Calendar at our website.

That’s about the state of the nation at the moment. Stay tuned and see you soon if not sooner.
